Mr Melvin Sum

Co-Founder & Principal, ACUBE Achievers Pte Ltd

Mr Melvin Sum is an experienced educator and leader with over two decades of expertise in Mathematics education. Trained at the National Institute of Education (NIE), he began his teaching journey in 2001 at Dunman Secondary School, specialising in both Elementary and Additional Mathematics. His dedication to nurturing students’ academic and character growth led to consistently strong results, with many of his graduating cohorts achieving distinctions in national examinations.


In 2010, Mr Sum joined Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road), where he expanded his portfolio to include Character Development, Student Leadership, and mentoring younger teachers. Promoted to Senior Teacher (Mathematics) in 2015, he spearheaded initiatives to develop teaching competencies and strengthen teacher-student relationships, including rolling out the Singapore Teaching Practice in his school.

Ms Simin

Head of Lower Secondary Mathematics Division ACUBE Achievers Pte Ltd

Ms Simin is an accomplished educator and curriculum specialist with over 15 years of experience in Singapore’s education sector. As Head of the Lower Secondary Mathematics Division at ACUBE Achievers Pte Ltd, she leads curriculum development, teacher mentorship, and oversees the quality of instructional programmes, ensuring they meet both rigorous academic standards and the evolving needs of young learners. Prior to joining ACUBE Achievers, Simin served in the Ministry of Education for more than a decade, where she taught Mathematics across various levels and streams. Her dedication to high-quality teaching and holistic assessment led to her appointment to the MOE Curriculum Policy Office under the PERI HA team. In this capacity, she conducted nationwide workshops to equip primary school leaders and teachers with essential assessment literacy, championing approaches that support not just academic performance but also students’ overall growth. Simin holds a Master of Education in Educational Assessment from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore, where she was awarded the prestigious MOE Postgraduate Scholarship. Her dissertation on the assessment of mathematical modelling earned her a Dean’s Commendation for Research, reflecting her deep commitment to making learning meaningful and authentic.

Christine

Ms Christine With nearly 25 years of experience in teaching science within MOE schools, Teacher Christine has guided thousands of primary and secondary students to excel and achieve A grades in both the PSLE and GCE O Level Science examinations.

MOE-trained and a highly-experienced former Head of Department (Science) at renowned primary and secondary schools, Teacher Christine is intimately familiar with the national science syllabi and assessments for both PSLE and GCE O Level. Holding a Master of Education (Teaching and Curriculum) from NTU, and having marked the PSLE science examinations as well as the School-based Science Practical Assessment (SPA) for GCE O Level Pure Sciences, she adeptly leads and designs engaging science curricula that capture students’ interest while meeting the rigorous demands of these examinations. Recognized for her academic prowess, Teacher Christine has served on the panel for the GCE O Level Biology Syllabus Review and has been invited to share her insights with NIE trainee teachers on conducting the GCE O Levels SPA Examinations.

Teacher Christine has also played a significant role as an Assistant-Head at the ASTAR Graduate Academy, nurturing many talented youths into emerging scientists and researchers in Singapore. As a former MOE HQ officer, she collaborated with top researchers and agencies such as ASTAR, the Science Centre Singapore, and the Singapore Zoo to design science programs for teachers and students. She is a distinguished recipient of the MOE Postgraduate Award and the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programme, a prestigious international educational accolade supported by the U.S. government.

With her extensive educational experience and global perspective, Teacher Christine continuously refines her teaching methods and materials to ensure they are relevant, robust, and capable of empowering her students to learn science with clarity, competence, and confidence.
